Year 2

Here is a message from the Year 2 Team

To all Year 2 parents,

We appreciate that this is a difficult time for all,  so please understand that the activities and timetable provided on these pages are for guidance only.

Please do not feel obliged to follow the timetable each day and please do not worry if you find you cannot complete the work set on any given day.  Practical activities like art and craft, cooking, Lego/construction and junk modelling are all great learning activities and also great for keeping the mind and hands busy and helping to relax. Please remember that time spent at home will be far more intense and please do not feel you have to spend the whole day on learning, especially as many of you will be trying to work from home as well.  Yours and your children’s mental and emotional health must come first and if you are finding school work is becoming a flash point, then follow the needs of your child and step back a bit.  You could perhaps try playing a board game, sharing a favourite book or film or go for a walk together to help re-regulate emotions and restore calm.

You may find it helpful to set up short activities in slots throughout the day with regular breaks in between.  Twinkl has some good suggestions.  Keeping physically active is important.  SuperMovers and Cosmic Kids Yoga will be great for everyone.

Please feel free to email your child's teacher. It would be lovely to hear how you all are, let us know if we can help or support in any way and we will provide support and / or encouragement in this unprecedented crisis.

From all of the Year 2 Team

We have three Year 2 classes called Robins, Nightingales and Woodpeckers, and one mixed Year One/Two class called Kingfishers. We are responsible, trustworthy and kind members of the school community.

We pride ourselves on being independent learners and take responsibility for our learning. We are encouraged to have a 'can-do' attitude in all aspects of school life. We adopt a cross curricular approach to teaching and learning which come from our talk for writing stories.
