I would like to introduce Clarrie the travelling Bear!
Clarrie is a flat, A4 sized version of a cuddly toy we have in school. Clarrie Bear fits in with our geography learning as he helps us to think about the different places in and around Tidworth. He also helps us to learn bout the different places in the UK and around the world and how those places are similar or different to Tidworth.
When it is your child's turn, Clarrie will come home and spend the week with you. While he is with you, he can join in with any family activities that you are doing - trips to tesco, to the library or to the park. Please take some photos of where you have been in or around Tidworth and then email them to: clarriebear@clarendon-inf.wilts.sch.uk. Your child will then be able to tell their class all about their week with Clarrie Bear. We can then add your photos to our display and find the places you visited on our maps. If your child wants to draw pictures or write about what they did with Clarrie, we would love to see them too.
Running alongside the weekly Clarrie Bear, we have extra Clarrie Bears that your child can take if they are going on holiday, going away for the weekend or doing something special with their family. Please speak to your child's teacher if you would like to borrow one of these extra Clarrie Bears. Please then email us any photos you take and a short description of where you went and what it was like there. We also have mini Clarrie Bears that fit inside an envelope. These can be posted to someone who is away with work or lives far away. They can then email us some photos and post him back again. He does fit inside a bluey envelope for those that have gone away with the army.
We look forward to hearing about Clarrie's adventures.
Some of the features we learn about in school are: beach, cliff, forest, hill, mountain, ocean, river, valley, city, town, village, factory, farm, house, port, harbour and shop. Perhaps you can see some of these features and tell us about them.
Please email your photos to: clarriebear@clarendon-inf.wilts.sch.uk and include your child’s name and/or class in the subject bar.
Dear Robin Class,
I am staying at a base in Qatar which is an area of Asia called the Middle East. I am closer to the equator than I was in Tidworth. I am on the edge of a desert so it is very hot! Hotter than Tidworth in the middle of the summer! It is very dry and sandy here. I haven't seen any rain the whole time I have been here. It is very flat here. The houses in the village look different as they all have flat roofs and the windows have shutters on them. I have seen lots of camels here as they wander along by the road.
See you soon,
Clarrie Bear
Dear Robin Class,
I went to stay in a cottage in the middle of a forest. The cottage was in Wiltshire so not far from Tidworth. I went on lots of walks in the forest and saw some squirrels and a deer. Some of the trees were huge! It has rained a bit while I was here so I stayed inside and played some games and then we went and splashed in the puddles.
Love Clarrie Bear
