  • History Workshop – Mary Seacole

Mon 25 Sep 2023 Mrs Daubney

On Tuesday 19th September, year 2 had a history workshop where we learnt about why Mary Seacole was a significant person and her impact on modern nursing. We learnt that Mary Seacole had 4 beliefs about how to look after poorly people – medicine (she made her own from plants), good food, comfort (so her patients had comfy beds), and entertainment (she thought bored people wouldn’t get better very quickly so they were entertained with books and music). We had lots of fun learning about Mary Seacole and had to work as part of a team to make our bodies into shapes from part of her story.

  • Harvesting the Allotment!

Fri 15 Sep 2023 Mrs Daubney

The last few weeks, we have been very excited to collect our produce from the allotment! The allotment was a fantastic addition to the school last year from proceeds from the Tesco Community collection. Every class had their own plot and were able to grow different vegetables. In our harvest, we have collected: carrots, parsnips, peas, beetroots and kale! It has been very exciting! The children have then been giving the opportunity to create their own meals with the vegetables - the vegetable soup was a real winner! We are excited to see what amazing produce the children produce this year!
