  • Fiji - Year 2

Thu 15 Dec 2022 Mrs Daubney

In Year 2, for our Around the World theme, we have been looking at Fiji and comparing it to the Uk. In particular, we looked and compare Suva and Tidworth. We were lucky enough to have a talk from one of our parents who comes from Fiji. We learnt about different animals and geographical features of Fiji. We also learnt some key Fijian words and then were able to ask questions about Fiji. Thank you so much to the parent volunteer who came in to speak with us!

On Tuesday 13th December, the children in Year 2 were lucky enough to visit the Garrison Theatre. They were able to join other schools in Wiltshire to participate in a Christmas Concert. The music was play by the military band and the children listened to different musicians, instruments and saw different conductors at work. They also managed to help stop Darf Vader and the Grinch from stealing Christmas!

  • Christmas Pantomime

Tue 13 Dec 2022 Mrs Daubney

Today, we were joined by an amazing Christmas Pantomime! The theatre company called Hobgoblin Theatre Company came in and performed a funny pantomime about Christmas. Throughout the pantomime, the children met different traditional characters and learnt about the key traditions in pantomime. The children particularly enjoyed shouting 'He's behind you!' every time the villain came on the stage!

  • Christmas Carol Concert

Fri 09 Dec 2022 Mrs Daubney

On Thursday 8th December and Friday 9th December, the children performed a fantastic carol concert for all the parents. This was a school wide performance and each year group had a different theme. In EYFS, they performed as snowmen and sang beautiful songs about snowmen. In Year 1, the children were dressed as Father Christmas or Rudolph. They then sang fun festive songs like 'Santa Got Stuck up the Chimney' for the parents. Finally, Year 2 sang traditional songs dressed as carol singers. They performed: Away in a Manger, Little Donkey and We Wish you a Merry Christmas! Throughout the performance, Year 2 children read festive readings to the parents. The concert was a wonderful success and we are looking forward to the next one. Thank you to all the staff and children for all their hard work!
