On Thursday, 4th March it is World Book Day and this year we will be celebrating through our home learning. There are lots of different things you can do throughout the week to celebrate different books.
There is a competition currently running with Clarendon Juniors which you can complete at home. You need to make a model linked to a favourite children’s book that the whole family enjoy. How you make your model and what you choose to make a model of is entirely up to you.
For example:
There will be a prize for the winner from EYFS, KS1 (Year 1 and 2), LKS2 (Year 3 and 4) and UKS2 (Year 5 and 6). Once you have completed your entry, please send it to your class teacher and they will forward it to Miss Green to be judged. Please the Home Learning section for more information about the competition – good luck!
In the Home Learning section, you will also find some information about an online performance for the children of ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’. There is information about how to access the link and a workshop which goes along with the performance.
Also, each teacher has read their favourite book for you to listen to at home. Please follow the link below to find the books or go to the Video Resource Center for the videos. There are lots of different stories for you to enjoy. Try to listen to as many different teachers as you can as you may find your new favourite book!
We hope you have lots of fun looking at different books this week and we are looking forward to seeing all the fantastic things you do – enjoy!
For World Book Day, each teacher has recorded their favourite picture book for you to enjoy. Each teacher has read their book in a different way. One teacher has even read theirs as a bedtime story for you!
Can you find the bedtime story video?
Can you find the book about fruit?
Can you find the book full of letters?
We hope you enjoy listening to all these different stories and hope you find one you enjoy. If you do find your new favourite book, we would love to hear about it!
Below, there are links to some Phonics Videos which you may find useful for your home learning. There are videos explaining the terms used in Phonics and Phase 3 and Phase 5 flashcard videos. Also, there is a link to the Phonics and Reading Page which has flashcards you can use at home and a glossary of terms.
Below, there are the links for the reading videos that will be useful everyday. There is a video of the story being read to you and the daily reading practise skills which you can listen to before each lesson. Remember, don't listen to the whole story until after Monday's lesson. This is because Monday's lesson is prediction based on the front cover.
W have included a range of extra activities you may want to use with your child to promote positive wellbeing.
If you would like to print the whole week's resources at the same time, please use the link below. Alternatively, the same resources are available to print separately in our daily links. In the daily links, you will also find the video resources and any other online resources you may need.
