As World Poetry Day is held on the 21st March, we decided at Clarendon Infant School to spend a whole week exploring poetry. Every class got involved from Nursery through to Year 2! The week was launched with an exciting day from Stories and More based around fairy tales for EYFS and Year 1. Year 2 went on a nature walk to find signs of Spring to help inspire them. Each class learnt a poem off by heart and parents came into school on Friday to listen to their recitals. The children listened to poems and explored the images they brought to mind through art work. Teachers joined in by reading their favourite poems to the children and some classes had visits from Mr Jackson and Mrs Jones so they could hear their favourite poems too! All of the children's lovely poetry learning was shared with parents who were invited in to see what we had done. It was a fun-filled week full of language, imagination and art.
